PARKS GENERAL INFORMATION

Belleville has a long tradition of maintaining a balance between nature and development. It has always maintained parks and other open space as an important aspect of new development with emphasis on neighborhood parks and adequate facilities to support youth athletic programs.

Community Park is nestled between the northern and southern portions of the residential districts and nearly completely surrounded by Lake Belle View that provides for a spectacular setting for all types of activities. Enjoy a quiet walk, observe wildlife, take in a breathtaking sunset over Lake Belle View or take advantage of the many other park amenities. Recent improvements have been made to the ball field lights and the backstop fencing, along with new lighting for horseshoe, basketball and tennis. The park plays host to many family picnics, weddings and family reunions and also becomes the focus of the community each year as we celebrate our tradition rich Community Picnic weekend in August.

Library Park is beautifully located in the center of town amongst large, mature history filled trees and has our National Landmark, known to the residents of the community as the Old Library. Thanks to the efforts of many, the building has been restored and now plays host to a variety of public meetings. The park is also host to what's now become another Belleville tradition, Fall Festival. It is a unique opportunity for the entire family to come together to celebrate the end of the growing season enjoy the social pleasure of others while celebrating our past by enjoying activities of our ancestors. Blaser Park is a neighborhood park on the north side of town that features two soccer fields and playground equipment. Southeast Park, as you might expect is located at the southeast end of town and is in early stage of development.

Sugar River Park, our newest park area, is a 16 acre parcel on the east side of town. It now features two soccer fields and a small ball diamond which provide needed athletic facilities for our growing youth athletic programs. Playground equipment, a shelter and picnic tables added recently provide a great place for family picnics and reunions.
