WATER UTILITY GENERAL INFORMATION

The water billing is done at the Village Hall monthly.  This is based on the water that runs through the water meter located in your home.  You may mail you payment to P.O. Box 79, Belleville, WI, 53508, drop it in our drop box located outside the front door, or place it in the basket by the front desk.  If you have a billing problem, please call 608-424-3341.  Bills are mailed the last working day of the month and are due by the 20th of the following month.  If you are late, a one time 3%, (but not less than $ .50), late fee is added to your bill.

If you see the gallons used is going up on your bill from month to month, you may have a water leak.  Generally, it is because of a toilet not shutting off after flushing, the tank level is too high, or the stopper has warped allowing water to seep into the bowl.  You can check the toilet for leaks by placing a few drops of food coloring in the tank at night.  If the color is in the bowl in the morning, something is wrong.  You might check to see how often your water softner is kicking in.  Summer storms sometime goof up the timer.  You might want to keep an eye on outside faucets.  During the summer it is easy to leave a hose running and not realize it.  The best way to check for a leak is to read your own meter, especially if you are going to be gone for a few days.  Just read it before you go and then when you return.  It should be the same reading.

If you see water coming out of the ground on your property or in the streets, please contact  Public Works at 608-424-3666.
